About ORM Development
Operational software built around real business workflows.
ORM Development is a UK software company building operational platforms,
commerce infrastructure and administrative systems for businesses with
complex workflows.
Approach
Workflow-first software engineering
Specialism
Commerce infrastructure
Foundation
Built through live operational requirements
Our Story
ORM began as the infrastructure behind a real commerce brand.
ORM Development was created after building and operating the software
behind Chacalus. What began as a custom commerce system evolved into a
reusable operational platform spanning storefront, checkout, payments,
inventory, fulfilment, multi-currency, taxation and administration.
Rather than building a one-off website, ORM was developed as infrastructure:
a common commerce foundation designed to remain reliable, maintainable and
adaptable as operational complexity grows.
Why Custom?
Off-the-shelf software works — until your business outgrows it.
SaaS platforms, plugins and generic tools are useful early on. But as a
business grows, the limits usually appear in the operation: duplicated
admin, disconnected systems, manual stock updates, reporting gaps and
workflows that no longer match how the business actually runs.
ORM exists for that stage. The goal is not simply to create another
interface, but to build software around the operation itself.
What ORM Builds
Software for businesses that need more than a standard website.
ORM builds systems that support the operational layer of a business:
commerce platforms, administrative tooling, inventory infrastructure,
fulfilment workflows, integrations and custom internal software.
Commerce
Commerce platforms.
Custom storefront, checkout, payment, tax, customer account
and order management infrastructure for businesses with
specific operational requirements.

Operations
Operational infrastructure.
Systems designed around inventory, fulfilment, stock visibility,
administrative workflows and business process management.

Custom Systems
Workflow software.
Bespoke operational tools, platform extensions and workflow automation
scoped around business-specific requirements.

How ORM Is Different
We do not start with pages. We start with operations.
Many web projects begin with surface-level requirements: pages, layouts,
themes and visual references. ORM begins deeper, with the workflows that
sit behind the interface.
The goal is not only to create a better front-end experience. The goal is
to build software that makes the business easier to operate.
A workflow-first process from discovery to deployment.
01
Discovery
We discuss the business model, existing systems, operational pain
points and desired outcomes.
02
Workflow mapping
We identify how data, users, orders, stock and internal processes
move through the business.
03
System architecture
The platform is scoped around required workflows, integrations and
administrative control.
04
Build and iterate
The system is developed, deployed and refined around real operating
requirements.
Engineering principles behind every ORM platform.
</>
Workflow-first architecture
Systems are structured around how the business actually operates,
not around generic templates.
⌘
Modular infrastructure
Commerce capabilities are separated into focused domains with
narrow contracts, allowing the platform to evolve without coupling
every subsystem together.
⚡
Reliable foundations
Validation, guarded flows and safe operations are built into the
platform from the start.
↗
Long-term maintainability
Platforms are built to remain understandable, stable and adaptable
as they grow.
Platform Proof
Built through sustained engineering, not assembled from templates.
ORM infrastructure was developed through real operating requirements,
not theoretical feature lists. The platform has been shaped by the
practical needs of product management, checkout, payments, multi-currency,
taxation, stock control, fulfilment and administration.
3000+
Engineering hours
Developed through long-term platform engineering and iteration.
1,508
Automated tests
Supported by 7,504 assertions across domain behaviour, infrastructure boundaries and critical commerce workflows.
20+
Core modules
Reusable foundations across commerce, operations and administration.
1
Reusable platform
A common infrastructure layer designed to support independently configured deployments.
Technology Foundation
ORM platforms are engineered using a custom PHP, MySQL and JavaScript
foundation, deployed on Linux infrastructure and structured around
isolated commerce domains, explicit contracts, guarded workflows and
controlled persistence boundaries.
Platform capabilities include transactional checkout, payments, inventory,
multi-currency, taxation, order management and fulfilment, supported by
PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, NGINX, Ubuntu and external service integrations.
Why ORM Development
Ready for software built around your operation?
Businesses rarely fail because they lack software. They struggle when
their software no longer reflects how the business actually operates.
Manual administration increases, disconnected systems appear and teams
spend more time working around tools than benefiting from them.
ORM Development exists to build the opposite: operational software shaped
around real workflows, designed to reduce friction, improve visibility
and become a long-term business asset.
What ORM Means
ORM Development was named after its founder, Oliver Reece Myatt
— it should not be confused with object-relational mapping, the software
engineering term.
ORM Development builds operational software, custom commerce infrastructure
and platform systems for businesses with complex workflows.
